At the beginning of 2014, Vickie and Jen chose "giving back the community" as the theme for our 51st year in business. Since then, Bell-Anderson has donated over $16,000 to local charities and organizations that were chosen by our staff. The staff members of Bell-Anderson were given funds to donate as they chose and here are a few stories of what they did with them!

Maria Garcia, Maintenance Coordinator

The Neagle Foundation was created by Lamar because he is very passionate about supporting and giving back to his community. The Neagle Foundation was set up to be able to work with local businesses to create events and fundraisers. Through these events, the Foundation is able to raise money and then award those dollars to local charities and after school programs in Seattle, Federal Way and surrounding areas.

I chose this charity because Lamar is not only my family member but he grew up playing at the local Boys and Girls' Clubs throughout his young soccer career.  Instead of having him run the streets and get into trouble, he was always in some sort of activity like soccer, basketball, wrestling and even football.  I saw the benefit that after school programs have on kids firsthand and wanted to help with raising money.

I helped the Neagle Foundation by assisting Lamar Neagle with local events: setting up his table to sign autographs and take pictures and talking to people at events about the Neagle Foundation and how they can help. I also organized the volunteers for the biggest charity event of the year for the Neagle Foundation. It was a great pleasure working directly with Lamar Neagle, his manager Rich Martin and all the volunteers throughout the year.

Debi Alexander, Condo/HOA Support

The organization that I chose was the Children’s Therapy Center. It is a non-profit organization that offers physical and occupational therapy for special need kids in a warm & friendly environment that the kids really enjoy visiting. By using therapies that look a lot like play and involving the whole family, CTC helps families be better equipped to handle the challenges that come with disabilities of all types, both physical and mental. The money that we donated was used to purchase a variety of items that allow the kids to interact better with the world around them. One of the items was an iPad program that allows kids who struggle with verbal communication to speak by pushing on pictures that will speak out what the kids choose to say. Another item was toy adapters that take normal kids toys that many disabled kids are unable to work and connects them to larger buttons that the child can manipulate so they are able to make the toys work on their own without help, which allows the kids to become more independent in their play. I chose the Children’s Therapy Center because a very close friend of mine has a daughter who is now 3 who has a chromosome disorder that has affected her development both physically and mentally. She cannot do everything a normal 3 year old can do but she is a delightful child who genuinely enjoys life and loves deeply. She went to CTC since shortly after she was born until she turned 3 and the programs and staff have been a huge blessing to her and her family.
